Most parts are made from injection moulded plastic. The scrubbing face of the head is made from a water repellent TPE blend to ensure nothing can get stuck on the face. There is no metal in the head, and the cradle arm is made of bendable aluminium, wrapped in plastic. The few metal components in the handle are resistant to corrosion as well, so there will be no risk of rust when it comes into contact with water
Subtlety was a serious design priority when developing the product. We based the size of the product on the fragrance blocks commonly found in toilets. If you’ve owned or seen one of these, the FlushBrush is no larger than a fragrance block.
The head can be changed as often as you like. Because it’s made of silicone and cleaned with every flush, you should feel comfortable replacing it far less often than your current toilet brush, without compromising on hygiene.
We really think so, and we are working on commissioning scientific studies to prove it empirically. Owning a traditional toilet brush means having either a stick covered in waste and bacteria, or a pot full of chemicals in your bathroom. Or both! We think that by confining toilet cleaner to the toilet, and keeping the toilet seat closed, children and pets won’t be able pick up the any nasty bacteria or chemicals. If they pick up the handle, you can be sure that handle has never made direct contact with the inside of the toilet.
We believe that by owning a FlushBrush, you will have a more hygienic toilet cleaner, which you will need to replace far less often than traditional brushes. Furthermore, when it does come time for replacement, only smaller the components that make direct contact with the toilet require replacement, rather than the whole apparatus. This means that you can stay conscious of hygiene without wasting unnecessary plastic. Eventually, we’d like to be able to provide the option to buy a FlushBrush made from metal, or bamboo, or recycled plastic. In time, we hope to make these options available. Also, as FlushBrush is cleaned with every single flush, you can dramatically reduce your use of bleach and other chemicals for cleaning traditional toilet brushes, meaning that less bleach goes down the drain, surely a good thing!
During design, we made every effort to ensure FlushBrush would fit as many toilets as possible: the cradle has a bendable aluminium arm and lower forks which can mould and conform to many different shapes and widths of toilet rims. However, some of the very latest, rimless flushing toilets are not appropriate for this product.
This should only happen extremely rarely: the joining mechanism has been tested extensively for strength and durability, However, if you make a mistake when using the product and the head falls off the handle, there are magnets on the head and the handle to pick up the head from the water and return it to the cradle. It also floats, so it should be extremely unlikely for it to go down into the soil pipe. In addition, the same magnet on the head connects with a magnet in the cradle to ensure that the head is held firmly in place when not in use. That being said, we cannot be held responsible for user error if the head is flushed down the soil pipe.
